    • Rinse thoroughly with water.

In an RCT with 42 women post-treatment for bacterial vaginosis, intravaginal gel application containing prebiotic FOS was compared to placebo for 16 days. After 8 days, 100% in the FOS group normalized their Nugent scores, compared to only 67% in placebo. After 16 days, FOS maintained normal flora across all participants, whereas 24% of placebo users remained disturbed.

FOS shows strong potential as a vaginal prebiotic, selectively favoring lactobacilli while suppressing pathogens.
